Yesterday, the Transportation Security Administration announced that travelers will soon be allowed to bring small knives onto airplanes for the first time since 2001. Apparently, the TSA finally realized that the only way to stop a bad guy with a knife is a good guy with a knife—even if the bad guy wasn't previously allowed to have any knives at all.

European antitrust officials imposed a massive $732 million fine on Microsoft today for failing to comply with the terms of a 2009 antitrust settlement agreement. To make matters worse, they did it by making a little paperclip appear on the screen saying, "I hear you're having trouble complying with your settlement agreement! Can I fine you for that?"
