Michele Bachmann edged out Ron Paul to win the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa on Saturday, meaning that in 2012—for the first time—we may finally have a female president of Ames, Iowa.

Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty decided to end his bid for the nomination after a disappointing showing in the Iowa straw poll. The announcement proved incredibly confusing to the majority of Americans who believed Pawlenty had dropped out of the race weeks ago.

Meanwhile, conservative Texas governor Rick Perry officially entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination this weekend. Perry campaign officials have worked to avoid comparisons with fellow ex-Texas governor George Bush, although they still could not explain why the two have never been seen in the same place at the same time...
