During a campaign stop in Iowa yesterday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a heckler that "corporations are people." So in other words, Mitt Romney just called everyone who works on Wall Street a slave trader.

The U.S. Postal Service is considering cutting as many as 120,000 jobs as they look to slash costs. A spokesperson said employees would learn of their fate by phone, email or in person.

The federal government announced that starting in October, the Statue of Liberty will close for a year for safety-related renovations. It's just as well—at the rate things are going, there should be plenty of domestic poor and huddled masses to go around by then.
